Good news for all you iPhone and iPod Touch users out there, we have a new update ready to download!

With the new Nimbuzz 2.0 we have improved the design, the connection speed and fixed the crashes some of you were experiencing. Here is the list with what’s new:


Nimbuzz no longer available for Windows Mobile

These might not be the best news of today, but we’d like to inform you that as of July 1st Nimbuzz for Windows Mobile phones will no longer be available for download from our website.

If you already have Nimbuzz on your mobile phone we will continue to offer support until the end of 2010, but no new features will be added, which means there won’t be any future update.


2010: Great year for mobile phones in South Africa

increase-chart-1Here is interesting news, the guys from cellular-news inform us that the South Africa handset sales will grow up 17% in 2010. Good news, right?

And it also make a lot of sense if you consider the fact that the  Mobile Trends and Predictions tell us 2010 will be a great year for smartphones overall.

Alex Spektor, Analyst at Strategy Analytics, said, “We forecast mobile handset sales in South Africa to grow by a healthy 17 percent annually to 11 million units in 2010. South Africa is the fourth largest handset market in Africa. Growth is being driven by post-recession economic recovery and the feel-good factor generated by the country’s hosting of the FIFA World Cup soccer tournament, one of the world’s most popular sporting events.”


Nimbuzz for Java 1.7 – HTTP connectivity is back!

The new Nimbuzz 1.7 version has one very important and highly requested addition: HTTP connectivity.

What does this mean? If your mobile internet subscriptions only allows web browsing, you can now use Nimbuzz via an HTTP connection over the web. Pretty cool, right? :D

If last week we had good news for Nimbuzz Java users, when we announced our latest update optimized for Java touchscreens, this week we come back with more good news: We fixed the BlackBerry connection issue! Yey! [Download link]

Last year in December we announced our first native application for Blackberry’s . Unfortunately a few weeks after the new BB 5.0 O.S. upgrade went live and some pieces of our code didn’t worked with the new O.S., we had to go back to the “drawing board:( .

Although it took longer than expected, we did it and now all of you can enjoy running Nimbuzz on Blackberry.
